The research area terms are hierarchical. Only one term can be selected at a time.

Select the category for the primary data files that you will be depositing into the repository. Data "type" is a broad term which includes data format and research method.

If your research involved human participants AND IRB did not deem research "non-human subjects research", select "yes". This is true even if IRB deemed your research exempt

Open Access refers here to data freely accessible without fee, usually without requestor registration. Controlled access has a request method for registering and approving access to researchers, varying in requirements. Controlled is often required for human participant data.
